Business electricity in Australian Capital Territory

The ACT is served by a single distribution network, Evoenergy, within a compact geographic area. The territory sources its electricity from renewable generation under long-term contracts, which shapes the supply mix available to retailers.

For business customers, the network side of the bill is consistent across retailers, so the retail offer is where plans differ.

Evoenergy and the ACT network

Evoenergy owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the ACT, and also supplies gas in the territory. Network charges for your site come from Evoenergy's published tariff schedule.

Because the territory is small and its network is uniform, there is less variation in network costs between sites than in larger states — which makes the retail component a clearer differentiator.

Renewable supply and what it means for your bill

The ACT's electricity supply is contracted from renewable sources, and retailers may market plans on that basis. The renewable characteristic of supply does not by itself change the network charges on your bill.

When comparing, focus on the components you actually pay: the daily supply charge, the energy rates, and any demand or feed-in terms — rather than on the generation mix alone.

How to compare plans in ACT

Start from a recent electricity bill for the site you want to compare. The bill gives us the usage, the billing period and the network tariff that a comparison for a Australian Capital Territory site needs in order to reflect how you are actually charged.
