Business electricity in Northern Territory
The Northern Territory is not connected to the National Electricity Market. Electricity is supplied under territory arrangements, with Power and Water Corporation operating the network and, in many locations, also supplying the electricity itself.
This makes the NT fundamentally different from every other jurisdiction on this page: in large parts of the territory there is no competitive retail market for a business to shop in.

Power and Water Corporation
Power and Water Corporation owns and operates the electricity network across the major NT centres, including Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs, and supplies electricity to customers in those areas.
Because the same entity operates the network and supplies the power in many locations, there is not always a separate retail choice to make. Where a regulated tariff applies, your options are governed by the territory's arrangements rather than by a retail market.
What business customers should check
The practical first step in the NT is to establish what arrangements apply to your specific site and location, since these vary across the territory and between grid-connected and remote areas.
Where a regulated tariff applies, the levers available to a business are typically on the consumption side — understanding how your site's usage is charged and whether a different tariff class applies — rather than on choosing between competing retailers.
How to compare plans in NT
Start from a recent electricity bill for the site you want to compare. The bill gives us the usage, the billing period and the network tariff that a comparison for a Northern Territory site needs in order to reflect how you are actually charged.
Upload a bill and compare business electricity plans — free, and it takes about a minute. New to all this? Start with how to read a business electricity bill or browse the full set of business electricity guides.
